How I Made Friends With The People of Sucre, Bolivia

Yesterday a young Bolivian boy of no more than 8 years approached me and asked if he could shine my shoes. I pointed to my Chacos…”No possible” I said. Then he asked where I was from…

“Nueva York…Estados Unidas”.

“OBAMA!!!!” He replied, ¨Hoy, Bush!¨ He grimaced…¨Manana, OBAMA!¨ he rhymed.

I loved it.

And today “ees a great day for you” said the Frenchman at the Dutch bar I went to to watch the inauguration.

Hangin´in my Obama T at a Dutch bar in Bolivia. Thank you, Barack Obama, for making me the most popular person in Sucre, Bolivia

And then the Bolivian bartender took a picture of my T-shirt.

On Sunday, when I arrived, I was attacked by a barrage of youngsters and their water balloons (picture coming soon). But now look at me, it´s Tuesday, January 20th, and I am the coolest cat in town.
